Replacing The Food Pyramid - MyPlate

We all remember learning about how to eat properly and how a healthy diet can be very important. During those lessons the Food Pyramid is what we looked at to show us the basic food groups. There are many critics of the food pyramid and MyPyramid. They say these images don't properly show the food groups and make it confusing. In response to this, the USDA as rolled out a new image of healthy eating. MyPlate is easier to understand and is based off the USDA Dietary Guidelines. My Plate offers ideas and suggestions including making half your plate vegetables and fruits. Combine exercise into your everyday activities. These activities/exercises should be fun. Do something active as a family.

There are tons of foods that are healthy that you can use to fill these food groups.
Here is a full list of foods for MyPlate
I invite you to explore this new program and see if you can include at least some of these healthy ideas into your everyday meals and activities.
